WHAT A PIECE OF WORK IS MAN

"While we were Kings and Queens" explores twentieth-century German Enlightenment alongside a 1712 speech by slaveholder Willy Lynch the traditional nkisi objects used to banish evil. This series connects historical narratives of colonialism to modern education, resistance, and solidarity. Lynch's speech, which informed oppressive practices against Black slaves, underscores the duality of a white psychosis that both advocates for emancipation and perpetuates violence against marginalized bodies.
